ABSTRACT

This research aimed to find out the students’ perception towards BBC learning English application as supporting media to comprehend reading texts in the System Information (SI) Department at a private university in Yogyakarta. By using a descriptive quantitative approach, this research made use of questionnaire to collect the data with thirty-five (35) students participating. The results revealed that 100% of students think that students can learn anytime and anywhere with BBC Learning English. 100% of students think that students are free to choose the program and topic they want to read. 100% of students think that the topics provided are varied so that they can increase reading interest. 100% of students think that BBC Learning English can improve students’ reading ability. 91.43% of students think that providing videos and scripts according to the topics discussed can make students easier to read and understand the content. 100% of students think that BBC Learning English provides quizzes in every content. The quiz is extremely helpful the students in understanding each video and script that is presented in order that students are careful to work on the quizess. 100% of students think that BBC Learning English really helps students in build their critical thinking because they read and do every quiz provided.
