ABSTRACT

Reading is a tool of communication in written language through the texts. In reading, many students get problems in reading process because they have limited knowledge of vocabulary so they are lack of understanding and they are difficult to remember some information after reading. The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of using Flipped Classroom on the students’ reading comprehension. Quantitative approach and quays experimental technique was implemented in this research. Then, the population was the eleventh grade students of  SMAN 7 Kediri while the  sample was 65 participants consist of XI MIPA 6 as control class and XI MIPA 7 as experimental class. Data collection through pre-test and post- test. Pre-test was given before the application of experimental and control treatment, while post-test was applied after treatment. To analyze the data, the researcher used SPSS version 16.0. The result of the data analysis showed that the experimental group exhibited significantly better reading comprehension than the control group. The average of student’s post-test score in the experimental class was 87.38, on the other hand, the average of students’ post-test score in the control class was 49.21. It can be said that flipped classroom  has significant  effect on the students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade of  SMAN 7 Kediri.
